SKODA FABIA MONTE CARLO – THE 1.6TDI BEAST

Is this the most powerful Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo in the UK?

Monte Carlo is where the world’s most famous rally is held. And that’s the inspiration behind the top-of-the-range Monte Carlo trim offered on the  hatchback. The Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo is the most luxurious super mini that Skoda offers. Available only as a five-door hatchback the Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo is available with either the 1.2-litre TSI (85bhp or 104bhp) petrol or the 105bhp 1.6-litre diesel. It comes in a range of distinctive colours with the potential for a contrasting roof colour.

This Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo has been on quite the journey over the last few weeks.

The Monte Carlo had been fitted with a hybrid turbo, fmic, EGR blank. It arrived on a trailer needing a dpf delete down pipe fitting before we could custom remap it on the rolling road.

With pipe fitted and the car built back up it went over to the dyno for remapping.

Rolling Road Remap Time

The remapping process started and after a couple of hours it became clear that the hybrid turbo on the car wasn’t suited to the car. So off came the turbo. It was sent to the ADE Tuning turbo guru to have a look at. The report back was that the wheel inside the turbo was way to big and that was causing the power delivery to be laggy. This confirmed what we knew. The turbo was boosting late making peak torque and power at only 3k, which meant the car wasn’t making enough power.

New hybrid turbo delivered and this time built up to be stronger and flow correctly.

With it was fitted to the car the remapping process started again.

As with all our remaps we only map the car within a safe parameter. We always check how the car drives on the road too. With the Skoda Fabia Monte-Carlo reacting and pulling well on the road, we handed it back to the owner.
