Rolling Road Checklist

With the Unphased Rolling Road only a few weeks away I thought that it would be a good idea to get a few basic points together to help ensure that you and your car are ready for the day.

rolling road checklist ADE Tuning
Please ensure that you arrive with a tank full of fuel, the nearest petrol station is only down the road off the mini roundabout opposite Uncle Jacks Pub. Fill your tank with the grade of fuel that you intend to use the majority of time. This is very important if you are having your car remapped as the tuner will map your car to that grade of fuel.

Check liquid levels ADE Tuning
Check that your oil and coolant are at the correct levels and most importantly check that there are no leaks! If you are not as happy as this guy they probably need topping up ūüėČ

Whilst you are under the bonnet checking your liquid levels, have a good look at the coolant hoses and the radiator to make sure they are in a good condition as they will be put to the test whilst on the rolling road. That also goes for any boost pipes if your engine is pressure charged.

Check your throttle linkages in your car too, you want it to be able to reach full throttle and have a look at your sparkplugs and HT leads. Are your tyres at the right pressure and is the tread good enough?

And finally…

If your car looks this low it is cool but it won’t get on the rolling road ūüėÄ So it maybe a good idea to raise it up and also if you have a low spoiler to remove it. rolling road ADE Tuning

Octavia gets a Milltek

Garage services Blackburn, Lancashire

One afternoon the phone rang and it was a customer with a Milltek enquiry. ADE Tuning in Lancashire are approved suppliers and fitters of Milltek exhaust systems. After a few conversations to find the customer requirements we ordered a beautiful Milltek exhaust system for Skoda Octavia VRS TSi. The Milltek system was ordered from the turbo back and had the twin Jet tailpipe. The Milltek exhaust system was ordered and a week later a massive, heavy box arrived.

Milltek Exhaust System Lancashire

When we carefully opened the box all we could see was a bright, shiny Milltek exhaust system and masses of packaging. You can see the craftsmanship and quality in each and every section which is why each section has a Milltek metal stamp.

Milltek Sport exhausts are produced in high quality type-304 aircraft grade stainless steel. This material is anti-magnetic (other manufacturers’ stainless steel may not be) and is less susceptible to discolouration. This quality of stainless steel is used on all pipework and the total construction of the silencer. Mandrel bending ensures full flow bends for better gas flow and Milltek systems are increased in bore to ensure ultimate performance without the loss of mid-range torque.

All Milltek exhausts are designed, developed and manufactured in-house in the UK.

Apex Spring Garage Services Lancashire

The customer also decided to treat his car to a new set of lowering springs whilst the car was on the ramp. After a bit of research and phone calls it was decided that the best spring for car and to meet the spec the customer had given us ( a drop of approximately 20mm) was a set of Apex springs. Apex are well known for their handling, ride and refinement which is achieved by  dedicated specialist who have the knowledge in house, from experienced shock and spring-specialists to test drivers with race experience.

 Another exciting package to open!

The Skoda was put on the ramp in the garage and the wheels and old springs where removed and the new springs fitted. The yellow of the springs looks amazing against the blue paint work.

Here you can see the shiny tailpipes and back box of the Milltek exhaust whilst the car is on ramp. Beautiful!

The exhaust system will have a sporty rasp when driven on the road.

Because the exhaust system is from the turbo back and the CAT has been bypassed the car required a custom remap. ADE Tuning writes all there own remaps whilst the car is on the dyno or rolling road as it is also known.
Dyno, rolling road, Blackburn

We also do a pre-remap dyno run to ensure the car is running correctly; a sort of health check, this also helps us to find what actual power the car is already producing. Now according to VAG specification the Skoda Octavia should be running 197bhp but when we put the car on the dyno it made 221bhp with 223 lb/ft torque – very impressive! The remap was written by our mapper and a final dyno run was done to find the exact power of the Skoda . . . 297bhp with 348lb/ft torque!

Fantastic results on a gorgeous looking car that sounds amazing!

What is DPF removal?

DPF Removal from only £199.. See our PRICES page for further details

A diesel particulate filter (or DPF) is a device designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine.

DPF removal Blackburn
Nearly all diesel-engine cars, vans, trucks and other commercial vehicles, built after 2006 have a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) fitted within the exhaust system. Being a filter, its job is to capture and store soot particles produced during the engine combustion process from entering the atmosphere, then every so many miles the engine will enter a regeneration cycle which is supposed to clean the filter by burning the soot and turning it into ash.

Inevitably every DPF filter is going to clog up at some point. Almost all manufacturers will claim this will take a very long time, but as this technology is new, we will only discover over time just how long they will last. This is making diesel enthusiasts very nervous as they are certainly not cheap to replace. A principal DPF concern is the fact that the diesel particle filter itself produces a blockage within the exhaust system.

Blocked DPF Blackburn

This in conjunction with the diesel catalytic converter results in several pounds per square inch of congestion and back pressure in your exhaust. Since adding the DPF to the exhaust system it has resulted in a reduction in fuel mileage, quite a few questions have been raised as to the reason why the government chose to make this technology a requirement when it’s not even used in many parts of the world. Given that the diesel available in the UK is all ultra-low sulphur there’s not nearly as much pollutant matter produced by diesel engines.

The addition of a diesel particulate filter has a tendency to make considerably more issues than it is designed to fix which explains why most people use a DPF removal service like ADE Tuning offers. With our custom made DPF Removal Software, we will reprogram your vehicle’s engine management system to fully disable the diesel particulate filter which means you won’t have any more DPF warning lights on your dashboard, your engine going into LIMP mode or any more costly DPF issues going forward. We also remove the blocked DPF element from your exhaust allowing your engine to breathe again!

DPF warning light Blackburn
In February 2014 the UK government brought out a visual inspection as part of the annual test for road vehicles. The tester must now look for the presence of a DPF filter section in the exhaust. As we have always just removed the insides from the DPF filter and left the original canister in place this means that you will not fail your MOT. With our custom made Software installed in the engine management system and the DPF removed from your car you will have a better free flowing exhaust system which will deliver more power, better fuel consumption and NO DPF clogging problems or DPF warning lights ever again. We also normally carry out a full engine remap at the same time to ensure your vehicle is running as efficiently as possible once the work is complete.

We offer other garage services in Lancashire including remaps.
