Unphased Show 2015

ADE Tuning at the Unphased Show 2015

ADE Tuning remaps and servicing
Last weekend we pack up shop and headed down to Longridge near Preston in preparation for the Unphased Show 2015.
With a van full of displays, gazebos, stickers and all our camping gear we hitched up the car trailer with the Mk1 on the back and set off.
Unphased show ADE Tuning 2015

When we arrived at the showground some of the guys where already down setting up the stage and marking out areas for club stands. We found our plot and started to set up our banners and gazebo and I think that you will agree that the ADE gang did a pretty good display 😀

As the sun began to set over the Lancashire hills, we cracked open a beer and got the BBQ going.

The next morning we where woken by the pita patter of rain drops on the roof of the van but the rain didn’t stop the people from coming. Opposite our pitch was the show and shine area and at around 7.30am there where already crazy (dedicated 😉 ) car owners cleaning and prepping their cars.

Around lunch time the rain clouds had started to disappear and the sun made an appearance. This is when the tug of war and eating competition took place between the different clubs. We of course weren’t allowed to compete as there are only so many trophies ADE Tuning can have 😉

We had a cracking weekend, met some new people and did a lot of car talk. It was also great to touch base with past customers who have used our services whether in the workshop or for a custom remap. We unfortunately didn’t have time to take some photos so CumbriaVAG have very kindly let us some of theirs.

ADE Tuning would like to thank the boys and girls of Unphased for organising a brilliant show and all their hard work and planning paid off 😀

Audi A5 3.0 tdi DPF delete and Remap Package

Audi A5 3.0 tdi DPF delete and Remap package

What is the first thing you do after you buy yourself a new car? See what goodies you can find to make your car personalised to you.

After typing into Google “Audi A5 remap Lancashire” our blog on the red Audi A5 appeared on the first page. After reading our blog and then searching around the website and reading about DPF removal the customer decided to give us a call and find out what we could do for his car.

What is a DPF?

A Diesel Particulate Filter (or DPF) is a device designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine. Its job is to capture and store soot particles produced during the engine combustion process from entering the atmosphere, then every so many miles the engine will enter a regeneration cycle which is supposed to clean the filter by burning the soot and turning it into ash. Inevitably every DPF filter is going to clog up at some point. Since adding the DPF to the exhaust system it has resulted in a reduction in fuel mileage, quite a few questions have been raised as to the reason why the government chose to make this technology a requirement when it’s not even used in many parts of the world. The addition of a diesel particulate filter has a tendency to make considerably more issues than it is designed to fix which explains why most people use a DPF removal service like ADE Tuning offers. With our custom made DPF Removal Software, we will reprogram your vehicle’s engine management system to fully disable the diesel particulate filter which means you won’t have any more DPF warning lights on your dashboard, your engine going into LIMP mode or any more costly DPF issues going forward. We also remove the blocked DPF element from your exhaust allowing your engine to breathe again!

Custom Remap

As you will all know by now that all our remaps are custom and not a generic download. Our custom remaps are written solely for that individual car and take into account fuelling etc. Now with the Audi A5 being Quattro is unable to be run on our in house dyno as the ADE Tuning dyno is a 2wd dyno, but this is not an issue as we have access to a 4wd dyno so the car is custom remapped on this dyno to make sure we achieve the best performance and economy in a safe parameter.

Isle of Man Manx Rally

Manx Rally

Last weekend Chris caught the ferry over to the Isle of Man to do some on the spot servicing for Nigel Worswick who was competing in the Isle of Man Manx Rally.
Nigel Worswick ADE Tuning

Shakedown was the only session when the car behaved as it should. Nigel went out for the first stages in the pouring rain, when he came into the first service he said the clutch pedal had gone to the floor and not come back up! It turned out that the clutch slave cylinder had given up 🙁

With the limited time the team had, they could only bleed it up and would fix it at the end of play on Friday.

After a 1am finish they returned on Saturday morning at 8am with the car washed and ready to go.

Into the 2nd service and Nigel told the team the car had several issues including a slipping clutch, no rear brakes and them only had 35 minutes to repair them all. After a chaotic 35 minute fixing session they managed to get the car rally ready again only for them to hear only an hour later that the head gasket had gone 🙁

So sadly that was the rally over for the team. Not the best way to finish a rally but that’s Motorsport!

Good luck to Nigel, who is flying over to Barbados at the end of this month, in his next rally!

Apex Festival 2015

Apex Festival 2015 at Lydden Hill Race Circuit

Known as the friendly track, Lydden Hill International Racing Circuit was founded in 1955 by the late Bill Chesson and the Astra club. Lydden Hill Race Circuit (formerly known as Lydden Circuit) is the UK’s shortest road racing circuit (many shorter oval tracks exist) at exactly one mile (1609 m).

The venue is superbly situated in an Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty and set with its own amphisphere, located in the beautiful village of Wootton about half-way between Canterbury and Dover in Kent.

It is mainly used for FIA, MSA and ACU events as well as track days, including rally cross, saloon and sports car racing and vintage motorcycle racing. It may be only a mile long, but Lydden is a testing circuit, with many undulation changes.

Well this weekend was dedicated to Vdubs and there was an ecliptic mix of air cooled and water cooled. We arrived late in the evening on the Saturday and firstly noticed the chilled out vibe of the festival and also how Mk5 Golfs where parked up next to Splitscreen campers. As we drove round looking for the idea place to make camp, we saw the drive through movie with all the cars parked up watching ” The Italian Job” on the big screen. We parked the van up and went for a wander round. With the smell of bbq’s wafting in the air we headed down to the food area. They had the usual burger vans but these where mixed with curry stalls, pulled pork stalls and oven baked pizza stalls. All at amazing value and tasting as good as they smelled 🙂 They Apex Festival caters for all ages and the evening entertainment continued with live music in one marque and a silent disco in another. A bizarre experience when you enter with no head phones on and all you can hear is the shuffling of feet as people dance to no music but we soon got into the swing of things.

The track opened the next morning at 10.30am with the drift cars going out to show us how to drive sideways whilst pointing forward. All brilliant fun 😀 The drift cars where out for around half an hour and then it was the turn of the Retro Racers in there Berg inspired Golfs mixed with a Nissan GTR, a couple of Porsches, an E-Type Jag and some Beetles. The Apex Festival also holds a circuit parade where anyone from the show can take their car, van and motorcycle out onto the track for a drive round.

We had a fantastic weekend, met lots of fab like minded people and saw some amazing cars too

Audi TT gets a Milltek Sports System

Milltek treat for the Audi TT

Milltek Audi ADE Tuning
In the workshop this week we had a shiny red Audi TT which was being treated to a Milltek sport system. The owner of the car had contacted us about changing the exhaust system on his car, so we pointed him in the direction of Milltek. After visiting the Milltek system the customer decided on the dual outlet cat back system.

More than 32 years of continuous exhaust development and technical expertise are drawn upon to develop the ultimate Milltek Sport range of performance products, offering an ever-expanding comprehensive selection of performance exhausts which build on the successes of key marques like Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, BMW and Nissan.

This has placed Milltek Sport at the forefront of tuning companies and owners ‘must have’ list.

Milltek Sport exhausts are produced in high quality type-304 aircraft grade stainless steel. This material is anti-magnetic (other manufacturers’ stainless steel may not be) and is less susceptible to discolouration. This quality of stainless steel is used on all pipework and the total construction of the silencer. Mandrel bending ensures full flow bends for better gas flow and Milltek systems are increased in bore to ensure ultimate performance without the loss of mid-range torque.

Milltek Cat Back

As the standard exhaust system on the Audi TT is only a single exit, a new rear valance need to be purchased and fitted too.

The final picture

As you can see the rear of the Audi TT looks awesome with it’s dual rear outlets and it now looks even more sportier.  11185766_10203942794626581_162064243_n

The Milltek Sports System sounded amazing as the customer drove off 🙂
