This week on the dyno we have a 2009 Mercedes C63 AMG for a custom remap. AMG shoehorns its bonkers 6.2-litre V8 engine under the bonnet of a C-Class and creates an incredibly rapid sports saloon. All AMG engines are hand built, using a “one man, one engine” philosophy at the current AMG plant in Affalterbach, Germany. To signify this, each AMG engine builder stamps the engines they produce with an engraved plaque depicting their signature. According to Mercedes-Benz, there are only about 50 AMG engine builders.

As with all our custom remaps, we put the car on the dyno to find out what power the car is already making. Out of the factory the car would have made 450bhp but over the years the Mercedes had lost some horses. The custom remap was written on the dyno and a final run was done to get the final figure. An increase of 64bhp and 55ft/lb and an amazing roar of that V8 engine.

The first generation of the Audi RS3 was introduced in spring 2011. The car is powered by a turbocharged five-cylinder series with 2.5 litre engine with 340 bhp under the bonnet. With the S Tronic 7-speed gearbox and the Quattro all-wheel drive also comes modified front and rear bumper, wider arches and side skirts, a roof spoiler and Xenon headlights. Making the RS3 look a lot more formidable than its cousin the A3.

Our customer is no stranger to ADE Tuning having had his VW Jetta custom remapped last year and getting some fantastic results, so there was no hesitation when he picked up the phone to book the Audi RS3 in. Having owned the car for a few months a few individual modifications had been done and the car looks exceptionally well but the need for more power was itching away 😉

Dyno Time

As with all our custom remaps we do a dyno run to see what power the car is already making. Now as you will already know the Audi RS3 is four wheel driven so we disconnected the Haldex and strapped the car to the dyno. The custom remap was written and the car was run on the dyno again to get a final bhp.


When the owner came back from the test drive he was grinning from ear to ear 😀 and he was telling us that he has already got a front mount intercooler on order and is looking into getting a full decat Milltek system for the Audi RS3. Plus with the gearbox being DSG, that can be custom remapped too 😉

Milltek Sport exhausts are produced in high quality type-304 aircraft grade stainless steel. This material is anti-magnetic (other manufacturers’ stainless steel may not be) and is less susceptible to discolouration. This quality of stainless steel is used on all pipework and the total construction of the silencer. Mandrel bending ensures full flow bends for better gas flow and Milltek systems are increased in bore to ensure ultimate performance without the loss of mid-range torque.

After a few months the owner had decided to install a front mounted intercooler and brought the car back to have the custom remap tweaked to suit.

Performance Clutch Kit

Having the original clutch in front the factory it eventually started to slip meaning one thing… new clutch time. But instead of fitting a standard clutch the customer decided to treat his car to the clutch it deserves. An uprated performance clutch kit 🙂

Only 500 boring miles to bed the clutch in 😉 All performance clutch kits require a break in period of at least 500 miles of stop start driving. Motorway / freeway driving does not count! Until you have covered this period full engine power should not be applied as this bedding in period needs to occur to fully allow the drive plate to seat with cover plate and flywheel surfaces.

The Audi A8 is a four-door, full-size, luxury car manufactured and marketed by the German car manufacturer, Audi since 1994.
The A8 was previewed 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show by the Audi Avantissimo concept car. This concept introduced much of the technology later available on the series production A8 D3, including: Multi Media Interface, 6-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles, V8 bi-turbo engine (S8), self-levelling adaptive air suspension with continuously controlled damping, electric park brake, bi-xenon headlights with static Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) curve headlights, dashboard, driver identification systems with fingerprint scanner. The D3 generation A8 introduced the 315 bhp 4.2-litre Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) V8 engine subsequently uprated to 322 bhp. The engine uses two turbochargers and two intercoolers, with each turbocharger functioning exclusively for one bank of four cylinders.


Blocked dpf

After failing to regenerate the dpf had become blocked and was causing the car to go into limp mode. After contacting Audi to enquire about the price, he then contacted us to see what we could do for him. After a chat about how we remove the dpf and how we reprogram the ecu not to regenerate he booked in. But not only did he book in for the dpf delete and software, he took advantage of our dpf delete, egr blank and custom remap package.

As you will already know we only have a 2wd dyno, making it impossible to dyno a 4wd car. So we have to head over to a 4wd dyno to write the custom remap. The results speak for themselves.

GTi International 2015 – The Pictures

GTI International

Now in its 28th year, GTI International is Britain’s biggest and most successful event for enthusiasts of the Golf GTI and other related high-performance VW Group models.

The main focus of attention is the quarter-mile Sprint track where visitors to the event can test the acceleration of their cars against the clock on a proper drag strip with world-class timing, watched by a huge crowd from the 3,000-seater grandstand.

The strip will also see demo runs from many of the country’s top tuning companies, showing exactly what they do best, as well as members of the Volkswagen Drag Racing Club.

For those who prefer to polish their cars, the Show ’n’ Shine and Concours competitions attract a great many of the best-kept VWs in Britain and Europe, from original and restored concours classics to highly modified custom cars.
