MAZDA 6 DIESEL REMAP

On the rolling road for a diesel remap we have this Mazda 6 2.2 SkyActiv-D. Wanting better fuel economy and more power, the owner of this Mazda 6 got in touch with ADE Tuning to see if this was possible. A tuned diesel engine should give you better fuel economy when mapped correctly.

We ran the car on the rolling road before the remap as a health check and also find what power the car was pulling. The Mazda was a little down on the expected power but nothing serious.

The 150bhp engine in the Mazda is capable of making up to 60bhp more in power. BUT both ourselves and the customer understood that the car was a daily driver that needed to be reliable. That’s the beauty of a custom diesel remap, we can tailor it to your needs.

The Mazda 6 is now pulling 183bhp with 327ft/lb torque. A nice increase on the standard power which will in turn enable better fuel economy. The car is now more responsive throughout the gears making for a more spirited drive. And with the added bonus of a better mpg.

Do you own a diesel car that would benefit from a diesel remap?

WHITE VAN MAN WITH AN AFTERMARKET ECU

Something a little old skool on the rolling road for mapping last week. This MK6 Ford Escort Van is fitted with 2l turbo Zetec engine and running MegaSquirt aftermarket ecu.

This van brings a whole new meaning to “white van man” 😂

MegaSquirt aftermarket ecu is a general-purpose aftermarket electronic fuel injection (EFI) controller designed to be used with a wide range of spark-ignition internal combustion engines (i.e., non-diesel engines.)

MegaSquirt is used world-wide for engine control. Its success is not limited to the automotive aftermarket. The use of MegaSquirt controls is being used by many world-renowned engine and product manufacturers for commercial and industrial use.ย

The van arrived running a base map. A base map is a “close enough” map to let you drive safely to the tuner for a real full tune. This allows the car to be moved before the mapping process.

With the van strapped down on the rolling road we began the process of writing the custom remap on the MegaSquirt aftermarket ecu. We ran the van on the rolling road as we adjusted the fuelling etc. Always monitoring how the van was reacting. When we started making the power we were expecting the fine tuning began.

Once we were happy with how the van and engine set up was working with our remap and the MegaSquirt aftermarket ecu, we ran the van again on the rolling road.

Have a look at the power results below…

THE MOST POWERFUL MONTE CARLO IN THE UK?

Well, Andrew went and got himself a seven page feature in VWG Magazine. Check out the ADE Tuning remapped 204bhp Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo!

Named after Monte Carlo, the venue of the world famous rally. This Skoda is available only as a five-door hatchback in either the 1.2-litre TSI (85bhp or 104bhp) petrol or the 105bhp 1.6-litre diesel. It comes in a range of distinctive colours with the potential for a contrasting roof colour.

Here is a quick flick through some of the pages. For a sit down read you can either bob down to the workshop or pick up a copy at your local magazine stand.

This Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo has been on quite the journey over the last year. You can check out its ADE Tuning journey in our blog

AUDI RS3 HYBRID TURBO TIME

The Audi RS3 has been at the forefront of the hot hatch arms race ever since the original made its grand entrance in 2011. The second generation stuck to the same mechanical template of the muscular turbocharged five-cylinder engine up front, sending its power to all four wheels.

The stunning Audi RS3 not only looks the part but it also pulls 367bhp in standard form. And for most people this would be more than enough power in the 4wd car. But as we find with most of our customers more power is always needed ๐Ÿ˜‰

Slowly parts where bought and changed on the car. Induction kit, secondary decat pipes, decat pipes and front mount intercooler where fitted and the car was mapped to suit along the way.

The Audi RS3 ran a 11.92 at 113mph down at Ultimate Street Car in 2017.

So where do you go next after you have modified the car like above?

Hybrid turbo! ๐Ÿ˜†

A second turbo was sent over to our “Turbo Guru” for hybridizing. With a bigger, modified compressor wheel fitted and the rest of the internals upgraded it was time to fit the hybrid turbo.

Original ‘V’ Hybrid

With the hybrid turbo fitted, the Audi RS3 had the Haldex 4wd system disabled and the car was strapped down to the rolling road.

The Mapping Process Began…

As we had put a lot of time and development into the Audi RS3 over the last couple of years. Mapping it to suit the next modification and working closely with the “Turbo Guru” and the owner we knew what we needed to get out of the car.

Our aim was to create a remap to suit the car that will not only deliver the power like it would out of the factory but be reliable in its delivery.

Here is what the beast of a car made on the rolling road…

So ADE Tuning increased the power and performance of this stunning Audi RS3.

AUDI TT GOLF MK1 ECU REMAP

This car is a one off build and the car started out life as a mk1 Golf. The build consisted of putting the mk1 body on to a Audi TT chassis. But this wasn’t a simple build. Jems Speed Shop enlisted the fabricating experts Jo’s fab lab to build the car. Jo’s fab lab made the body kit out of steel and rolled and folded metal making the car bespoke in every way. The car was 8 inch wider than the Audi TT base so the car was split in two and widened to fit. The car has the 225bhp engine and that combined with the Audi four wheel drive system makes this car a dream to drive.

So the car went up for sale and the new owner brought the car down to ADE Tuning to find out about an ECU remap.

This is where we get to work our magic ๐Ÿ˜‰

An Audi TT has the Haldex 4wd system. So we disengaged it before we strapped it down on to the rolling road. As with all our ecu remaps we ran the car for a health check and to find what power we where working with. The car pulled 200bhp which was expected as this is the general power figure we see in the MK1 TT’s. The custom remap was written and the car was run on the rolling road throughout. Once we where happy with the cars ecu remap gains we re-engaged the haldex and went on a road test.

The car performed effortless with the throttle response greatly improved and the mid-range drive spot on, not to mention the increase in power.

The Audi TT/ Mk1 VW Golf will be heading down to Ultimate Dubs in a few weeks so be sure to check it out, not that you can miss it ๐Ÿ˜‰
