WOULD ASH BUY A NEW CAR OR REMAP HIS SEAT LEON FR?

Having owned his SEAT Leon FR for nearly three years, Ash was contemplating buying a newer car or a custom remap. He had no issues with his car and had been looking to buy a new car but was stuck what to buy. This was when a friend suggested a remap. The remap would not only increase the power of the car but the delivery of the power. So Ash did a quick Goggle search and ADE Tuning appeared on the first page.

After a phone call chat to discus what we could do for him and his car, he made the decision of a remap. Later that day he booked his SEAT Leon FR in for a custom remap.

REMAP DAY

The day of the remap arrived and Ash dropped the car off and filled out a remap disclaimer. Unfortunately Ash had to work that day so left his SEAT Leon FR in our capable hands. As with all our remaps we ran the car on the rolling to for a health check and also to see what power the car was already making. On the odd occasion we have run a car and found that it is quite down on power. If this was to happen we wouldn’t be happy mapping the car until the issue was fixed, a remap would just mask the issue not fix it.

Luckily for Ash his car was pulling a very healthy 156 bhp so the remapping process began. Here at ADE Tuning we don’t download files off the internet, we write our own. With an ecu file written we ran the car again to check how the car behaved. Sometimes we have to write more than one ecu file as each car can react differently to the information given. You have to remember that not all cars are driven or serviced the same and this can affect how the car reacts. Once we where happy with how the car performed and the power it had produced we took it out for a test drive on the road. The car now had better throttle response and the drivability through the gears had greatly improved.

THE RESULTS

Ash took his car out for a test drive and immediately noticed how much more responsive the throttle pedal was. Once we got out on to the motorway he commented on how the car pulled better through the gears. And how normally he would have to change down a gear to overtake but the car now just kept pulling. When we got back to the workshop he told us how pleased he was with the car and the results 🙂

MAZDA 6 DIESEL REMAP

On the rolling road for a diesel remap we have this Mazda 6 2.2 SkyActiv-D. Wanting better fuel economy and more power, the owner of this Mazda 6 got in touch with ADE Tuning to see if this was possible. A tuned diesel engine should give you better fuel economy when mapped correctly.

We ran the car on the rolling road before the remap as a health check and also find what power the car was pulling. The Mazda was a little down on the expected power but nothing serious.

The 150bhp engine in the Mazda is capable of making up to 60bhp more in power. BUT both ourselves and the customer understood that the car was a daily driver that needed to be reliable. That’s the beauty of a custom diesel remap, we can tailor it to your needs.

The Mazda 6 is now pulling 183bhp with 327ft/lb torque. A nice increase on the standard power which will in turn enable better fuel economy. The car is now more responsive throughout the gears making for a more spirited drive. And with the added bonus of a better mpg.

DOORSLAMMERS 2019 – WHAT A WEEKEND!

Doorslammers 2019 saw hundred and ninety-nine cars entered, a record number for the event. The front wheel drive entry list was closed early due to the vast amount of drag cars that had been entered. With cars and drivers coming from all over Europe, this weekend was going to be EPIC!

Doorslammers 2019 was a brilliant opportunity to see some of the mixture of ADE Tuning mapped drag cars in one place. Most compete within the car group of manufacturer i.e. Carl with Rusty Bullet (Vauxhall Astra GTE) and Ian with that Crazy Corsa where recently down at the Performance Vauxhall Show. The team headed down very early on the Friday morning ready for FWD qualifying and also RWYB (run what you’ve brung) so they could get use to the track and check their cars.

SO HOW DID THE DRIVERS DO?

With the cars entered across four of the seven categories everyone was well prepared or a least they thought so 😉

Carl broke Rusty Bullets clutch on the Friday. BUT managed to get a clutch sent down to Santa Pod for replacement on the Saturday. Then broke the replacement!

Sadly Ian broke an inner cv boot and couldn’t get a replacement. Jordy set off too early on his race which set off the red light which was an automatic elimination. Rob was doing well until he was paired against a Mustang and changed from 3rd to 1st 🤔 Mike in the Caddy got through to semi finals and got knocked out coming 4th 🏆🏁

Everyone had a cracking weekend even though the weather gods didn’t play ball on the Saturday.

M3 EATING BMW? 435D REMAP WILL GUARANTEE IT!

We could have just done a 435d remap. But this stunning BMW 435d was booked into the workshop for our dpf solutions package and front mount intercooler fitting.

The diesel-powered 4-series is packing 313bhp and with all-wheel drive. The 435d is offered exclusively with BMW xDrive and with an auto box, making it a delight to drive. So how would a 435d remap change the car?

This car already pulls 313bhp in standard form so when the owner booked the car in for a fmic fitting along with an ADE Tuning dpf solution package deal, we knew good gains would be made.

The ADE Tuning package deal involves the dpf delete with dpf software, egr valve blank with egr software along with a custom remap. It is recommend for track and motor sport use. The dpf is a filter, its job is to capture and store soot particles produced during the engine combustion process from entering the atmosphere, then every so many miles the engine will enter a regeneration cycle which is supposed to clean the filter by burning the soot and turning it into ash. Inevitably every dpf is going to clog up at some point. This BMW 435d had issues with the dpf.

We can offer a 435d remap on its own but you won’t see these figures…

Now pulling 417bhp with 555ft/lb torque, this BMW 435d is an M3 eater 🤪😁

WHITE VAN MAN WITH AN AFTERMARKET ECU

Something a little old skool on the rolling road for mapping last week. This MK6 Ford Escort Van is fitted with 2l turbo Zetec engine and running MegaSquirt aftermarket ecu.

This van brings a whole new meaning to “white van man” 😂

MegaSquirt aftermarket ecu is a general-purpose aftermarket electronic fuel injection (EFI) controller designed to be used with a wide range of spark-ignition internal combustion engines (i.e., non-diesel engines.)

MegaSquirt is used world-wide for engine control. Its success is not limited to the automotive aftermarket. The use of MegaSquirt controls is being used by many world-renowned engine and product manufacturers for commercial and industrial use. 

The van arrived running a base map. A base map is a “close enough” map to let you drive safely to the tuner for a real full tune. This allows the car to be moved before the mapping process.

With the van strapped down on the rolling road we began the process of writing the custom remap on the MegaSquirt aftermarket ecu. We ran the van on the rolling road as we adjusted the fuelling etc. Always monitoring how the van was reacting. When we started making the power we were expecting the fine tuning began.

Once we were happy with how the van and engine set up was working with our remap and the MegaSquirt aftermarket ecu, we ran the van again on the rolling road.
