DOORSLAMMERS 2018 AT THE BIG BANG SHOW
ADE Tuning are shutting shop for the weekend and are heading down to Santa Pod with the team of drag racers for Doorslamers 2018.
This is your chance to see the ADE Tuning mapped cars in action.
Doorslammers which ran in the 1970’s and 1980’s will return to Santa Pod in a bigger and better format, along with a huge prize fund. The Doorslammers will return with six heads-up classes along with one huge Bracket class. The prize money up for grabs will be £75k, this will be the largest prize money ever paid out for this type of event in the UK.
So here are some of the ADE Tuning cars that will be heading down the strip…
B-rookie Racing – the Lhasa green Volkswagen mk1 Golf with a 1.8t 20v engine. Owned and raced by Richard, this will be the first main event where this engine set up has been raced. Richard isn’t a stranger to drag racing though, he competes in the VWDRC yearly.
Rusty Bullet – the mk2 Vauxhall Astra GTE with a c20let engine under the bonnet. The car is owned and raced by Carl, who for a change is “lastminute.com” in upgrading his injectors! As with most car owners, especially racers, the search for more power is strong. Rusty Bullet was one of the staring cars at last years PVS and features in this years promo video.
Jordy – You all already know Jordy from drag racing his silver Volkswagen Scirroco. He now is racing in a Volkswagen Polo with engine and set up from the Scirocco. A regular competitor in the VWDRC, Jordy will be running in the 4 cylinder class and currently has his turbo off to our turbo-guru for some magic 😉
The Legend that is Paul Bargate – Hopefully coming out of retirement is Paul Bargate in his yellow mk2 Volkswagen Scirocco. Paul last raced in the VWDRC back in 2015, where he was consistently achieving 11 second runs. Paul has since removed and rebuilt his engine and the car is down at ADE Tuning ready for mapping.
15 Degree Racing – Dave and his son Joshua are 15 Degree Racing. They did run a Volkswagen Golf mk3 VR6 but upgraded the engine to a R32 over winter. They brought the car down to ADE Tuning for a mapping session and then went on to run a new PB of 13.7 at 102 at GTi Spring Festival. This has to be one of the better sounding cars heading down the strip.
SleepyMike Racing – Mike is the owner and driver of the VR6 turbocharged Volkswagen mk1 Caddy. Mike ran a new PB last year down at Santa Pod with the head lifted on his engine. With the engine now fixed and all running good again, we will hopefully see a new PB down at Doorslammers.
Last but not least…
Owned and raced by Ian, this Corsa has certainly ruffled a few feathers over the past few weeks. Unfortunately the inlet manifold cracked last time Ian ran but we have our fingers and toes crossed that it will be back up and running in time for Doorslammers.
And we are still awaiting confirmation from…
Phil Blogg and his 2.0l 20vt mk1 Volkswagen Caddy.
