On the rolling road today for a custom remap, this 100bhp Ford Transit Custom. The owner was disappointed in how the van drove. He felt that it was lazy and sluggish going up hill. That is when he booked the van in for a custom remap.
We ran the van on the rolling road before we started the remapping process. It was slightly down on power but the day of the remap was exceptionally hot day. This was nothing to be worried about as cars prefer colder temperatures for optimum performance. Colder temperatures make the air more dense. Since density is the ratio of mass per unit volume, a volume of air at a lower temperature contains more molecules than the same volume of air at a higher temperature.
With the custom remap written for the van it was run again. Now pulling 162bhp with 317ft/lb torque this Transit Custom remap would really change the vans drive.
The customer took the van out for a test drive and immediately commented on the difference in throttle response. Once out on the motorway he commented that he no longer need to change through the gear when overtaking or going up a hill. What a cracking result 🙂
