AUDI RS3 DECAT DOWNPIPE – BUY CHEAP PAYS TWICE!

The Audi rs3 is no stranger to ADE Tuning and we have worked on quite a few over the years. We know what this car is capable of with the right modifications. This stunning example was booked in to the workshop for a decat downpipe fitting. The customer had sourced himself the downpipe and wanted us to install it.

With the car on the ramp we removed the propshaft and a few other parts to make room to remove the current downpipe. With the replacement decat downpipe placed next to the original we noticed a slight problem.

We made a quick phone call to the customer to explain the situation, he came down to the workshop. Not happy with the workmanship of the downpipe he decided to return the exhaust and open a dispute case on eBay. A phone call was made to Milltek and that afternoon a decat downpipe was dispatched. ADE Tuning are approved suppliers and fitters of Milltek Sport exhausts.

The Milltek downpipe arrived the next morning, we unpacked it and compared it to the original. Suprise, suprise it had the exhaust hangers in the correct location. With the rest of the car built back up we where able start the car up and check for leaks.

AUDI RS3 HYBRID TURBO TIME

The Audi RS3 has been at the forefront of the hot hatch arms race ever since the original made its grand entrance in 2011. The second generation stuck to the same mechanical template of the muscular turbocharged five-cylinder engine up front, sending its power to all four wheels.

The stunning Audi RS3 not only looks the part but it also pulls 367bhp in standard form. And for most people this would be more than enough power in the 4wd car. But as we find with most of our customers more power is always needed 😉

Slowly parts where bought and changed on the car. Induction kit, secondary decat pipes, decat pipes and front mount intercooler where fitted and the car was mapped to suit along the way.

The Audi RS3 ran a 11.92 at 113mph down at Ultimate Street Car in 2017.

So where do you go next after you have modified the car like above?

Hybrid turbo! 😆

A second turbo was sent over to our “Turbo Guru” for hybridizing. With a bigger, modified compressor wheel fitted and the rest of the internals upgraded it was time to fit the hybrid turbo.

With the hybrid turbo fitted, the Audi RS3 had the Haldex 4wd system disabled and the car was strapped down to the rolling road.

The Mapping Process Began…

As we had put a lot of time and development into the Audi RS3 over the last couple of years. Mapping it to suit the next modification and working closely with the “Turbo Guru” and the owner we knew what we needed to get out of the car.

Our aim was to create a remap to suit the car that will not only deliver the power like it would out of the factory but be reliable in its delivery.

After fitting a Scorpion decat downpipe and Milltek Sport secondary cat delete pipes, this Audi RS3 came to ADE Tuning for a custom remap to suit. We had already seen this stunning car before as it came down to our recent Unphased Rolling Road Day that we held.

A standard, non mapped Audi RS 3 will make around 360bhp when run on the rolling road. With the cats removed this RS3 made a very respectable 378bhp on the rolling road but the real magic was made with a custom remap which took that figure up to 428bhp with just shy of 500ft/lb torque. Not only fantastic figures but it sounds AMAZING!!!
