MAZDA MX5 TURBO ECU REMAP

Last week we had this stunning Mazda MX5 turbo on the rolling road. The MX-5’s first generation is recognisable by its pop-up headlights. These are great cars to drive and installing a turbo is a popular modification.

The owner of the car had a feeling as the car wasn’t fuelling correctly/ running as it should. We reversed the MX5 onto the rolling road and did a run. It was confirmed pretty quickly that the car had an issue.

With a few minor checks done it was decided that it was down to the remap that was already on the ecu. The car was running a Mega squirt aftermarket ecu having been previously mapped elsewhere. We are familiar with Mega Squirt and have tuned quite a few cars. You can see in the image below how lumpy the fuelling is. And it didn’t sound to great on the rolling road either.

After a couple of hours on the rolling road we had rescued the fuelling. We had also improved the fuelling and the MX5 Turbo was making great power. You can see the difference in the power and fuelling below. The air flow ratio curve is much smoother than before.

The Mazda MX5 turbo, the perfect car for a daily driver or track day beast 🙂

CORVETTE RACE CAR – YES PLEASE!

Martini race spec Corvette…

Not the usual kind of car that we are used to seeing down at ADE Tuning. And to be honest we weren’t entirely sure that it would even get on the rolling road as we had to jack it up to get it in the workshop!

With most of the Corvette being made of fibreglass to keep the weight down, it wasn’t the easiest of vehicles to push. But with the owners permission we got it off the trailer and on to the rolling road by pushing on the rear spoiler and roll-cage. With the bonnet removed from the car we where able to see that mighty engine 😍

The Corvette was running using the aftermarket ecu MoTec. We have vast experience in this aftermarket ecu and it worked great with the car.

With the car strapped down extremely well to the rolling road we began the mapping process. We ran the car whilst we adjust and altered the information on the ecu. It sounded amazing but extremely loud so ear defenders where handed out.

Once we were happy with how the fuelling etc. was with the MoTec on the Corvette we did one last power run to find what power she was pulling.

Just shy of 680bhp 🙂

We couldn’t obviously test drive the beast of a Corvette on the road, so we couldn’t comment on how it performed handling wise. BUT it will be out racing next year. So keep a look out for the Martini Corvette that ADE Tuning mapped on a race track near you!

MAZDA 6 DIESEL REMAP

On the rolling road for a diesel remap we have this Mazda 6 2.2 SkyActiv-D. Wanting better fuel economy and more power, the owner of this Mazda 6 got in touch with ADE Tuning to see if this was possible. A tuned diesel engine should give you better fuel economy when mapped correctly.

We ran the car on the rolling road before the remap as a health check and also find what power the car was pulling. The Mazda was a little down on the expected power but nothing serious.

The 150bhp engine in the Mazda is capable of making up to 60bhp more in power. BUT both ourselves and the customer understood that the car was a daily driver that needed to be reliable. That’s the beauty of a custom diesel remap, we can tailor it to your needs.

The Mazda 6 is now pulling 183bhp with 327ft/lb torque. A nice increase on the standard power which will in turn enable better fuel economy. The car is now more responsive throughout the gears making for a more spirited drive. And with the added bonus of a better mpg.

Do you own a diesel car that would benefit from a diesel remap?

THE MOST POWERFUL MONTE CARLO IN THE UK?

Well, Andrew went and got himself a seven page feature in VWG Magazine. Check out the ADE Tuning remapped 204bhp Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo!

Named after Monte Carlo, the venue of the world famous rally. This Skoda is available only as a five-door hatchback in either the 1.2-litre TSI (85bhp or 104bhp) petrol or the 105bhp 1.6-litre diesel. It comes in a range of distinctive colours with the potential for a contrasting roof colour.

Here is a quick flick through some of the pages. For a sit down read you can either bob down to the workshop or pick up a copy at your local magazine stand.

This Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo has been on quite the journey over the last year. You can check out its ADE Tuning journey in our blog

LIVE ROAD REMAP ON A SUBARU IMPREZA WRX

SUBARU IMPREZA WRX LIVE ROAD REMAP

Subaru introduced the “New Age” Impreza to Japan in August 2000. The WRX models featured a 2.0-litre turbocharged boxer engine until 2005, after which they switched to the 2.5-litre turbocharged engine.

This Subaru Impreza WRX had been treated to a new exhaust and been fully serviced before coming down to ADE Tuning. As a standard car this Subaru would make 214bhp.

With the live custom remap written and adjusted whilst the car is driven with our tuner in the passenger seat. It is important to ensure optimum AFR is achieved in order to ensure that stoichiometric mixture. This in basic terms means that the engine isn’t running lean or rich fuel mixture.

Another important factor to monitor is engine knock when developing a good and most importantly a safe tune. Knocking or detonation occurs when unburnt fuel in the combustion chamber explodes rather than a burning in a controlled manner.

It is important that correct boost pressure control is achieved to ensure that no spikes or dips occur to ensure maintained life of the turbocharger.

With all these factors taken in to account and with our tuner happy with how the car performs and drives we took the car over to the four wheel driven rolling road. ADE Tuning only have a two wheel driven rolling road onsite so hire a local four wheel driven one.

With the Subaru Impreza WRX strapped to the rolling road we find the final power figure of the live road remap.

The live road map increased to power to 292bhp 😊
